Bridge Records To Release Landmark Recording of Piano Music by Bernard Rands With Pianists Robert Levin and Ursula Oppens

In December 2013, Bridge Records releases a landmark recording of Bernard Rands's solo piano music spanning 50 years of his compositional life. The new recording features the incomparable pianists Robert Levin and Ursula Oppens. Rands composed and dedicated his set of Preludes for solo piano to Robert Levin, which Levin premiered at the Ruhr International Piano Festival in 2007. Additional repertoire on the new CD includes Tre Espressioni, Espressione IV, Memo V, and Impromptu. The Bridge recording project is of great importance to the composer personally in that it includes five significant compositions for piano that span an arc of his creative life, from 1960 to 2010.

Bernard Rands is dedicating the new recording to the memory of Prof. Samuel M. Paley in celebration of their great friendship. To make a tax-deductible contribution in honor of Prof. Samuel M. Paley toward the realization of this project please click here:
